Dear Parents/Students,

As you will undoubtedly know from all the media coverage Coronavirus (COVID-19) is continuing to spread across the UK. We have been advised as follows to ensure that we as an association are taking responsibility and precautions where possible to protect both ourselves and our students, until further notice.

We will continue to work within the government guidelines and as a result have no plans to cancel any classes in the immediate future. If you can spare two minutes please read the government guidelines. These guidelines are changing all the time so please keep an eye on them.

We have asked all instructors to follow the basic guidelines issued by the NHS:

-Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze

-Put used tissues in the bin immediately

-Wash your hands with soap and water often use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available

-Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell

In addition we have asked instructors to take some basic steps that we feel are practical and will not impact on the enjoyment of the classes:

-We will still be doing our set kumite but NOT partnered up

-Instructors and students to kiai away from, and not directly to a fellow karate-ka's face

-Please do NOT share any equipment... Kumite mitts, pads, headguards, Bo's, Jo's etc.

-Make sure you use hand sanitiser where possible

-Wash hands before and after classes using soap and water where possible

-Avoid hand contact with your face unless your hands are clean

-Avoid unnecessary physical close contact with parents and children

We respectfully ask parents to follow the same guidelines whilst attending TISKA Karate classes.  As with similar viruses the most common cause of the spread is in cough droplets so if we all work together, following the above advice, hopefully classes will continue as normal.

We know that karate is a contact martial art but with the health alert in place with COVID-19 we hope you all can understand the measure we have taken to help protect us all.

Please keep checking your emails and the clubs website as we shall keep you all updated as things are changing daily.
